Asia Submarine-cable Project Selects NEC, Fujitsu

A consortium led by NTT Communications, the Philippines Long Distance Telephone Company, StarHub Limited and Telekom Malaysia has selected NEC and Fujitsu for the Asia Submarine-cable Express system. ASE will be a high-bandwidth optical submarine cable system that will link Japan to Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Malaysia. It will being designed for native 40 Gbps transmission rates.

The manufacture and installation of all submersible plants such as Repeaters, OADM Branching Units and Cables, the Power Feeding Equipment and submersible plant monitoring system will be implemented by NEC. The manufacture and installation of Submarine Line Terminal Equipment and the Management Controller will be implemented by Fujitsu.http://www.nec.com http://www.fujitsu.com
