Coherent Corp. (NYSE: COHR) has launched the first 100G ZR QSFP28 digital coherent optics (DCO) transceiver designed to operate over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The production release addresses the growing demand for robust, high-performance optical networking solutions in outdoor and harsh environments.
The I-temp 100G ZR QSFP28-DCO module operates at 5.5W, leveraging Coherent’s Steelerton™ digital signal processor (DSP) technology, silicon photonics optical front-end, and an Indium Phosphide-based tunable laser. This design achieves exceptional power efficiency in a compact form factor. The transceiver’s seamless integration of DSP and optics underscores the benefits of Coherent’s vertically integrated manufacturing approach, delivering high performance and scalability.
The module supports SFF-8636 and CMIS management interfaces, ensuring compatibility with existing QSFP28-equipped devices and enabling easy upgrades from 10G to 100G in edge and access networks.
