Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has begun construction on its second data centre in France, Colt Paris 2, as part of an ambitious €2.3 billion expansion plan that will bring its total capacity in the country to 170MW by 2030. Located in Villebon-sur-Yvette, southwest of Paris, the 12.5-acre site will eventually host three facilities (Colt Paris 2, 3, and 4), with two additional data centres (Colt Paris 5 and 6) planned for a nearby site in Les Ulis. All five data centres will be built to support hyperscale, enterprise, and AI workloads, aligning with Colt DCS’s Global Reference Design and sustainability-first construction standards.
Colt Paris 2 will be powered by 100% renewable energy and feature a hybrid cooling system combining traditional air cooling with liquid-to-chip technology, designed to support high-density AI environments. The design eliminates water waste and enables heat reuse for the benefit of the surrounding community. Once operational, the facility will deliver up to 40MW and accommodate more than 100kW per cabinet. Construction will leverage European-sourced materials and is expected to create 300 jobs during development and over 100 permanent roles thereafter, reinforcing Colt DCS’s commitment to both sustainability and local economic impact.
