Comcast Lights Up DOCSIS 4.0 FDX Amplifiers Nationwide with CommScope

Comcast and CommScope have expanded deployment of Full Duplex DOCSIS (FDX) amplifiers across Comcast’s U.S. service footprint, enabling symmetrical multi-gigabit broadband services to millions of homes over existing connections. The milestone marks one year since Comcast began rolling out FDX amplifiers as part of its broader DOCSIS 4.0 upgrade strategy. These upgrades are central to Comcast’s multi-million subscriber initiative to deliver 10G-class Internet services.

The new amplifiers, built on CommScope’s STARLINE platform, support DOCSIS 4.0 FDX operation with AI-driven management that can detect and resolve network issues in real time. Comcast said the enhancements improve quality of service, reliability, and capacity, while allowing subscribers to connect multiple CPE devices with symmetrical speeds. CommScope noted that its amplifiers are fully integrated with Comcast’s access architecture and represent the continuation of its role as a leading supplier of broadband network amplifiers, with nearly 10 million shipped since the first DOCSIS deployments in the late 1990s.

CommScope also plans to expand its DOCSIS 4.0 product line to include amplifiers and Remote PHY Devices (RPDs) that support Unified operation—covering both Extended Spectrum DOCSIS (ESD) up to 1.8 GHz and FDX within a single device. The company will highlight these solutions at SCTE TechExpo 2025 in Washington, D.C.
