Compass Datacenters, a Dallas-based data center developer, has announced plans to build a massive hyperscale data center campus in Meridian, Mississippi. The project, valued at $10 billion, will consist of eight data centers constructed over an eight-year period, making it one of the largest developments of its kind in the southeastern United States. The investment is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the region, contributing significantly to local economic growth.
The campus will be powered by approximately 500 megawatts of electricity supplied by Mississippi Power and will receive state support through the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). MDA will certify Compass Datacenters as a data center operator, granting 10-year state income and franchise tax exemptions, along with sales and use tax exemptions for construction materials and equipment. Additional support from the City of Meridian and Lauderdale County will aid with site preparation and infrastructure development.
