Edgecore’s AMX3200 Optical Transponder and Muxponder Powers 400G Long-Haul

Edgecore Networks has unveiled its Phoenix AMX3200, a high-capacity optical coherent transponder and muxponder capable of delivering 3.2 Tbps of transmission capacity. Designed for demanding data center interconnects (DCI) and service provider backhaul applications, the AMX3200 offers an open, disaggregated design with modular SLED-based line modules, enabling flexibility, scalability, and cost efficiency. The solution supports long-reach 100G-400G optical transport and leverages the latest silicon switching technologies to deliver performance at a significantly lower cost than proprietary systems.

In collaboration with NEC Corporation, Edgecore Networks integrates advanced optical transport capabilities into the AMX3200, allowing telecommunications and data center operators to adopt open and disaggregated systems for enhanced device choices, agile innovation cycles, and robust supply chains. With features such as PTP (IEEE 1588v2) Class C time synchronization, redundant power and cooling systems, and support for multiple network operating systems (NOS), the AMX3200 meets the needs of modern telco and enterprise networks. Its modular 1 RU design offers scalability with 8 x QSFP+/QSFP28 and 2 x 400G (CFP) interfaces per SLED, supporting flexible growth for service providers.
