Groq Expands to Europe with New AI Inference Data Center in Helsinki

Groq has launched its first European AI inference data center in Helsinki, Finland, in partnership with Equinix. The move brings Groq’s high-performance Language Processing Unit (LPU) technology closer to European users, reducing latency and ensuring stronger data sovereignty and privacy compliance. The Helsinki deployment will allow enterprises across EMEA to access GroqCloud via Equinix Fabric’s private and sovereign infrastructure options.

The Finland location was selected for its energy efficiency and sustainability, leveraging the country’s clean energy mix, free-air cooling, and stable power grid. Equinix emphasized the Nordics as a key hub for AI infrastructure, enabling scalable and cost-effective inference performance. The new footprint adds to Groq’s existing deployments in the U.S. (with Equinix and DataBank), Canada (via Bell Canada), and Saudi Arabia (with HUMAIN), collectively serving over 20 million tokens per second.

Groq’s inference platform is purpose-built for real-time performance, delivering low-cost, scalable AI via custom-built silicon and a vertically integrated stack. Over 1.8 million developers and numerous Fortune 500 companies now rely on GroqCloud to deploy production AI at scale with predictable performance and low operating costs.
