Intel Ramps 18A Production at Fab 52

Intel is preparing to enter high-volume production of its Intel Core Ultra series 3 processors, code-named Panther Lake, at its new Fab 52 facility in Chandler, Arizona. The chips, built on the company’s most advanced 18A process node, are set to begin shipping later this year with broad availability expected in early 2026. Panther Lake introduces a scalable, multi-chiplet architecture that delivers up to 50% faster CPU and graphics performance than prior generations and integrates up to 180 TOPS of AI acceleration for next-generation PCs, gaming systems, and edge devices.

Intel also previewed Clearwater Forest, its next-generation Intel Xeon 6+ server processor built on the same 18A node. Featuring up to 288 efficiency cores, Clearwater Forest offers a 17% IPC uplift and substantial improvements in density and power efficiency for hyperscalers, cloud providers, and telcos. Intel plans to launch Xeon 6+ in the first half of 2026, with both Clearwater Forest and Panther Lake positioned as anchor products in Intel’s 18A portfolio.

Fab 52 represents the centerpiece of Intel’s $100 billion U.S. expansion, producing the nation’s most advanced logic chips and reinforcing a secure domestic supply chain for semiconductor manufacturing. Intel 18A combines the company’s RibbonFET transistor design and PowerVia backside power delivery with Foveros 3D packaging for scalable SoC integration. This platform will underpin multiple future generations of client and server products.
