Marconi outlined its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) strategy aimed at enabling operators to build integrated fixed-mobile core networks that offer open IP-based services. The IMS capabilities, which are already commercially available, include a portfolio of products from Marconi and its partners.
At the core of Marconi’s strategy are software components that are deployed on a common modular processor platform that exploits a common operating system, common redundancy and recovery capabilities and the ability to be geographically dispersed – meeting and exceeding the Telcos’ reliability requirements.
Marconi said its single IMS platform provides support for sophisticated multimedia communications and traditional PSTN features under a common management solution.
