MaxLinear Debuts AI-Powered Wi-Fi

MaxLinear has introduced its MaxAI, a hardware-optimized machine learning (ML) framework aimed at improving quality of service (QoS) for multiple system operators (MSOs). The new technology integrates directly into MaxLinear’s AnyWAN™ platform, offering real-time application-aware traffic management. Designed to enhance the user experience for demanding applications such as video conferencing and multiplayer gaming, MaxAI also reduces support costs by enabling intelligent diagnostics and on-demand log collection.

With the increased dependency on Wi-Fi, especially due to remote work, service providers face challenges in delivering consistent user satisfaction. The MaxAI framework addresses this by being use-case aware, ensuring that each device’s throughput, latency, and concurrency requirements are managed independently. This results in a more seamless network experience, especially in environments with varied Wi-Fi usage needs.

MaxAI is built for flexibility and scalability, allowing operators to customize their deployments using either pre-trained models or more advanced compute-intensive solutions. MaxLinear will be demonstrating this technology at Network X 2024 in Paris, where its AnyWAN-based Wi-Fi 7 platform will show the AI framework in action, showcasing the potential for improving overall network performance.

“At MaxLinear, we’re creating value by integrating AI directly into our products, providing service providers with a clear advantage in today’s competitive market,” said Will Torgerson, VP/GM Broadband Group at MaxLinear.
