Motorola to Acquire Terayon for Digital Video Grooming Platforms

Motorola agreed to acquire Terayon Communication Systems for approximately $140 million in cash ($1.80 per share. Terayon supplies real-time digital video networking gear to cable, satellite and telecommunication service providers worldwide. Its Terayon “CherryPicker” and related digital video system can be used to localize video services through digital ad insertion. The solutions support both SD and HD digital-into-digital ad insertion solutions, digital resolution change, digital logo overlay capabilities. Terayon is based in Santa Clara, California.

Motorola said the acquisition of Terayon will enhance its end-to-end portfolio for the delivery of next-generation services such as targeted advertising and program insertion solutions.
