NEOM Envisions a 1.5GW Data Center Campus Powered by Renewables

NEOM has selected DataVolt to develop a net-zero AI factory campus in Oxagon, the industrial hub of NEOM in northwest Saudi Arabia. DataVolt will invest $5 billion in the first phase of the project, which is expected to be operational by 2028. The facility will integrate high-performance computing with energy-efficient architectures, supporting Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a regional leader in digital infrastructure.

The AI factory will be powered entirely by renewable energy, leveraging Oxagon’s access to cost-competitive green power and fiber connectivity via sub-sea cables. The project aims to address the increasing energy demands of AI and data centers while minimizing carbon emissions. Advanced cooling technologies will be implemented to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.

DataVolt will lease land from Oxagon and receive infrastructure support to develop the facility. The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s vision for a sustainable, data-driven economy and strengthens its position as a regional digital hub. With the global expansion of AI workloads, the project sets the foundation for sustainable computing solutions in the Middle East.
