Nokia and Honeywell partner on Quantum-Safe Networking

Nokia and Honeywell Aerospace Technologies have formed a partnership with Numana to accelerate the development of Quantum-Safe Networks (QSN) and advance secure communications technology in Quebec and globally. The collaboration will leverage Numana’s Kirq Quantum Communication Testbed to validate and refine post-quantum cryptographic and quantum communication technologies in a real-world environment. Nokia will contribute advanced networking and cryptographic solutions, while Honeywell Aerospace Technologies will introduce quantum-secure encryption keys, including those distributed via space-based platforms, to enhance the security of terrestrial and satellite data networks.

This initiative aims to foster innovation across the quantum technology ecosystem, supporting enterprises, service providers, and public sector organizations as they prepare for the cybersecurity challenges posed by quantum computing. Nokia will integrate its quantum-safe technologies, including next-gen IP routers and high-capacity optical transport platforms, while Honeywell’s contribution will focus on delivering satellite-derived quantum key distribution (QKD) to terrestrial networks. Together with Numana, the group plans to offer secure testing, development, and deployment pathways for organizations looking to adopt quantum-resistant solutions.

The partnership aligns with broader efforts by Quebec and Canada to position themselves as leaders in quantum innovation and cybersecurity. The Numana-led project will not only deliver technical infrastructure but will also serve as an educational and collaborative hub for training, research, and ecosystem development. By combining private sector expertise with government-backed initiatives, the partners intend to accelerate the development of quantum-secure communications and foster a resilient digital economy.
