Nokia and Supermicro Team Up on AI-Optimized Data Center Networking

Nokia and Supermicro have formed a strategic partnership to deliver integrated, AI-optimized data center networking solutions targeting hyperscalers, enterprises, cloud providers, and communication service providers (CSPs). The collaboration combines Supermicro’s 800G Ethernet switching hardware with Nokia’s Service Router Linux (SR Linux) operating system and Event-Driven Automation (EDA) framework to provide a turnkey, pre-validated data center platform.

The integrated solution addresses the escalating demands of AI and cloud workloads, which increasingly require high throughput, scalability, and automation. Customers gain an infrastructure stack that spans networking, compute, and storage, designed to accelerate deployment timelines, reduce operational costs, and improve efficiency from Day 0 design to Day 2+ operations. Nokia emphasized that putting networking at the center of the architecture is critical to handling the exponential growth of AI and high-performance computing workloads.

By leveraging Supermicro’s direct sales and channel reach, Nokia expects to broaden its footprint in enterprise and HPC markets, while Supermicro strengthens its ability to offer networked compute platforms tightly integrated with advanced automation. The companies say the joint solution ensures high reliability, reduces manual intervention, and proactively resolves issues across large-scale data centers.

• Partnership combines Supermicro 800G switching with Nokia SR Linux and EDA

• Turnkey platform designed for AI, HPC, and cloud deployments

• End-to-end automation spans Day 0–Day 2+ operations

• Benefits include reduced deployment time, lower OpEx, and improved reliability

• Expanded enterprise market reach via Supermicro’s global sales channels

“This collaboration gives our customers more choice and flexibility in how they build their infrastructure, with the confidence that Nokia’s SR Linux and EDA are tightly integrated with our systems,” said Cenly Chen, Chief Growth Officer at Supermicro.

🌐 Analysis: This deal underscores Nokia’s push deeper into the data center networking market, building on SR Linux and EDA as foundational platforms for AI-driven architectures. Recent wins with hyperscalers highlight Nokia’s growing relevance beyond telecom, while competitors such as Arista, Cisco, and Juniper are also positioning AI-optimized fabrics. For Supermicro, the move extends its strong server and storage base into networking, complementing recent expansion into 800G platforms. The alignment points to a future where turnkey, pre-validated solutions gain traction as customers race to simplify AI and HPC infrastructure at scale.
