Ribbon Communications (Nasdaq: RBBN) has introduced two new routers, the NPT 2714 and NPT 2507, to its NPT XDR2000 series, enhancing network flexibility and cost efficiency for service providers, enterprises, and critical infrastructure operators. The NPT 2714 features a modular centralized design that merges the benefits of both modular and fixed systems, allowing for scalable capacity from 7.2 Tbps to 14.4 Tbps with in-service upgrades. It also supports software-driven MACsec security and integrates IP over DWDM (IPoDWDM) with 36 x 400G ZR+ coherent interfaces. Meanwhile, the NPT 2507 is a high-capacity fixed form factor router, optimized for compact network deployments with 40 x 100G and 8 x 400G interfaces.
Both routers leverage Ribbon’s IP Wave rNOS software to deliver a unified networking experience across its portfolio. The NPT 2714 was recognized as a High Score Recipient in the 2025 Lightwave + BTR Innovation Reviews, further validating its innovative design. These platforms offer network operators scalable, high-performance solutions that minimize operational complexity and investment costs. The NPT 2714 and NPT 2507 will be generally available in Q3 2025.
• NPT 2714: Modular design, upgradeable from 7.2 Tbps to 14.4 Tbps, supports MACsec security and IPoDWDM with 36 x 400G ZR+ interfaces
• NPT 2507: Fixed form factor, 7.2 Tbps capacity, optimized for compact high-density networking with 40 x 100G and 8 x 400G interfaces
• Security and Efficiency: Software-driven MACsec removes hardware dependencies, and both routers improve cost efficiency with scalable architectures
• Availability: General availability expected in Q3 2025
“These new routers are a testament to our continued focus on reducing the cost of networking,” said Sam Bucci, Ribbon’s Chief Operating Officer. “The advanced architecture of the 2714 enables the aggregation of increasing traffic volumes in a true pay-as-you-go fashion, delivering superb performance and outstanding investment protection.”
