Samsung Delivers mmWave and vRAN to UScellular

Samsung Electronics and UScellular have enhanced 5G network capabilities in the Mid-Atlantic region with Samsung’s mmWave and virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN) solutions. The collaboration enables UScellular to expand its fixed wireless access and mobile traffic capacity, providing high-speed connectivity to customers. The new architecture, launched in November, utilizes Samsung’s 5G Compact Macro, a 3GPP-based distributed solution that integrates baseband, radio, and antenna into a single lightweight unit for streamlined deployment.

UScellular is leveraging Samsung’s mmWave technology to access the 28GHz and 39GHz bands, delivering ultra-high-speed, low-latency connections. By adopting Samsung’s vRAN solution with Central Unit functionality, UScellular gains enhanced bandwidth and advanced intelligence features, including energy efficiency and scalable capacity for future expansion. This initiative aligns with UScellular’s strategy to drive next-generation 5G innovation while improving service reliability.
