Amphenol and Semtech have jointly introduced a 1.6T OSFP Active Copper Cable (ACC) featuring Semtech’s CopperEdge 224G/lane linear equalizer/redriver ICs, optimized for low latency and power-efficient operation between adjacent racks in hyperscale clusters.
The 1.6T ACC is designed to work with 200G/lane switches and xPUs, offering critical advantages over DSP-based alternatives. These include up to 90% lower power consumption and sub-100 picosecond latency, addressing the stringent thermal and performance demands of next-generation AI workloads. The solution also supports auto-negotiation and link training to simplify integration into complex data center networks.
With data traffic in AI and ML clusters rising sharply, both companies see ACCs as a cost-effective and energy-efficient bridge toward 224G/lane infrastructure deployments. This collaboration combines Amphenol’s expertise in high-speed cable systems with Semtech’s signal integrity silicon, forming a critical component for scalable, low-power AI connectivity.
• 1.6T OSFP Active Copper Cable uses Semtech’s 224G/lane CopperEdge linear redriver ICs.
• Enables connections across adjacent racks in AI and ML infrastructure.
• Up to 90% lower power consumption than DSP-based solutions.
• Sub-100ps latency supports real-time AI processing needs.
• Supports auto-negotiation and link training for easier integration.
“The combination of Amphenol’s world-class cable technology and manufacturing scale with Semtech’s advanced semiconductor capability creates a powerful customer offering,” said Brian Bentham, data center market manager at Semtech.
