Siemens Communications confirmed that it is the primary supplier for T-Mobile’s High Speed Data Packet Access (HSDPA) deployment. A software update for the base stations shifts the existing W-CDMA network into high gear. Initially, transfer rates of up to 1.8 Mbps — rather than the previous 384 kbps — are possible. The upgraded service is initially available in Germany and Austria.
