T-Mobile has introduced T-Priority, a new connectivity solution tailored specifically for first responders, designed to ensure uninterrupted access to 5G network resources even during emergencies.
Announced at T-Mobile’s Capital Markets Day, T-Priority leverages T-Mobile’s 5G Standalone Core to deliver a dedicated network slice that prioritizes first responders’ communications, offering significantly lower latency, faster speeds, and a robust connection even in high-traffic scenarios. The solution is supported by best-in-class partners, including Motorola Solutions, Ericsson, and 3rd-Eye Technologies, and provides a comprehensive, dedicated emergency response team available 24/7 to ensure reliable communication during disasters or large public events.
In addition to offering dedicated 5G resources, T-Priority addresses key challenges faced by first responders who increasingly rely on data-intensive tools like drones, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR). With features like priority access and preemption on voice and data services, first responders benefit from network speeds up to 2.5 times faster than those of other users, along with 40% more 5G capacity than competitors. T-Mobile’s network covers 98% of Americans, making T-Priority a comprehensive solution that extends across both urban centers and rural areas, bolstered by recent investments in network expansion.
T-Priority also introduces enhanced security features through T-Mobile SASE, protecting first responders against cyber threats. The City of New York will serve as the anchor customer for this initiative, reflecting the scalability and impact of the platform, as the city continues to modernize its emergency response infrastructure. First responder plans will launch later in the year, ensuring agencies across federal, state, and local levels have access to these advanced tools.
