Vantage Data Centers has announced a €1.4 billion ($1.5 billion USD) investment in its EMEA data center platform, with contributions from global investor GIC and MEAG, the asset manager for Munich Re Group.
This marks GIC’s first investment in Vantage’s EMEA business and an expansion of MEAG’s existing partnership. The funding will bolster Vantage’s ability to deliver sustainable hyperscale data center campuses, with its EMEA portfolio currently encompassing approximately 2.5GW of IT capacity either operational or under development.
The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2025, pending regulatory approvals and other conditions.

In 2024, Vantage Data Centers achieved significant milestones in both financing and expansion to meet the escalating demand for cloud and AI services.
Financing Achievements:
• $6.4 Billion Equity Investment: In January 2024, Vantage secured a $6.4 billion equity investment led by DigitalBridge and Silver Lake. This funding is part of a broader strategy to support over $30 billion in development, aiming to deliver more than three gigawatts of additional data center capacity across North America and EMEA.
• $3 Billion Green Loan: In April 2024, the company obtained a $3 billion green loan from a bank syndicate led by Wells Fargo Securities. This revolving credit facility is designated for the development of Vantage’s North American data center platform, emphasizing sustainable and energy-efficient infrastructure.
• $64 Million Loan for Taiwan Expansion: In March 2024, Vantage secured a $64 million loan from CTBC Bank and Cathay United Bank to fund the development of its first data center in Taipei, Taiwan. This marks the first hyperscale data center financing transaction in Taiwan.
Expansion Initiatives:
• Ohio Campus Development: Vantage commenced construction on a 192MW campus in New Albany, Ohio, marking its first major project in the U.S. Midwest. The $2 billion investment is expected to create over 1,500 jobs, with the first facility slated to be operational by 2025. The campus aims for LEED Silver certification, aligning with Vantage’s commitment to sustainability.
• Taiwan Data Center Launch: The company initiated the development of its first data center in Taipei, Taiwan, expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region to meet growing demand.
