The 2Africa project marked another significant milestone with the landing the subsea cable in Ghana and Nigeria.

At 45,000km, 2Africa is expected to be the longest subsea cable ever deployed. A total of 46 cable landing locations are envisioned for the project.

Frédéric Schepens, CEO of Bayobab said, “Following two milestone landings in South Africa, we are pleased to announce 2Africa cable landing further up the continent, in Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria. The 2Africa initiative is at the core of the work we do as Bayobab, with the ultimate goal of connecting Africa to the world and the world to Africa. We are eager to continue offering services that will expand the rapidly growing African digital economy and positively impact growth across the continent.”

The 2Africa consortium includes Bayobab (formerly MTN GlobalConnect), Center3 (stc), China Mobile International, Meta, Orange, Telecom Egypt, Vodafone Group, and WIOCC.
