The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) is set to highlight cutting-edge interoperability solutions at OFC 2025, bringing together 35 member companies to demonstrate innovations that enhance performance, efficiency, and capacity for next-generation data centers. The live demonstrations will showcase technologies essential for AI/ML, disaggregated systems, and hyperscale network scalability.

Key Highlights from OIF’s Interoperability Showcase:

• Optical Networking Advancements – Live demos of 800ZR, 400ZR, OpenZR+, and Multi-Span Optics to improve multi-vendor compatibility in high-capacity, long-haul networks.

• Energy Efficiency & Co-Packaging – Focus on Energy Efficient Interfaces (EEI) and Co-Packaging to drive sustainability in data center interconnects.

• Next-Gen Electrical Interfaces – Progress in Common Electrical I/O (CEI-448G, CEI-224G, CEI-112G) for high-speed, high-performance network systems.

• Simplified Management – Common Management Interface Specification (CMIS) to standardize optical and electrical device management for easier scalability.

• AI Network Scaling – Enabling seamless AI network expansion across interconnected data centers with enhanced interoperability standards.

“OIF is committed to fostering innovation and collaboration to meet the evolving demands of hyperscalers and the broader data center ecosystem,” said Mike Klempa, OIF Board Member and Chair of the Physical & Link Layer Interoperability Working Group.

Cisco, Juniper Networks, Infinera, Ciena, Marvell, Keysight Technologies, and many others will participate in the live interoperability showcase at Booth #5745 at OFC 2025.
