MEF announced its ninth Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) API release, introducing advanced automation capabilities for Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) ecosystems. This latest release addresses complex operational challenges such as service qualification, operational observability, and product definition, enhancing adoption for service providers and enterprises.

Key advancements in MEF’s latest LSO API release include:

  • Advanced Addressing Capabilities – The introduction of the Installation Place concept within the MEF Addressing and Site API enables more accurate service availability validation, improving global service qualification and delivery.
  • Comprehensive Operational Observability – New APIs provide real-time insights into Service Function Testing, performance monitoring, fault detection, and trouble ticketing, ensuring full visibility across multi-supplier services.
  • Expanded Suite of Product and Service Payloads – Enhancements to Carrier Ethernet, DIA, and IP Broadband payloads, along with pre-standard support for SD-WAN, Wavelengths, Data Center Cross-Connect, MEC IaaS, CAMARA Quality on Demand, and Google Cloud Connect.
  • Enhanced Product Catalog API – New bundling and pricing features enable flexible, standardized service definitions, improving interactions between service providers and ecosystem partners.

The LSO Irene release is now available on the MEF LSO Marketplace. MEF has also published industry resources such as the State of the Industry Report: Paradigm Shift and the 2025 NaaS Industry Blueprint to guide service providers in automated service delivery.

“As enterprise networks become mission-critical, especially with the advent of generative AI, service providers must have the automation capabilities necessary to deliver seamless, standardized services at scale,” said Pascal Menezes, CTO, MEF.
