Spirent Communications is collaborating with the Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT) to advance India’s Bharat 6G Vision, an initiative aimed at positioning the country as a leader in next-generation wireless technology. CEWiT, an autonomous research society under IIT Madras, will use Spirent’s Landslide test and emulation platform to validate 5G core network functionalities and accelerate 6G innovation.

CEWiT’s 5G and 6G Center of Excellence (CoE) serves as an incubation hub for telecom startups, supporting research, prototyping, and product development. By leveraging Spirent’s technology, CEWiT is advancing 3GPP Release 17 feature validation, enabling 5G Security Assurance Specification (SCAS) testing, and accelerating development of high-definition Voice-over-NR (VoNR). The collaboration also supports India’s broader telecom initiatives, including Next-Generation NodeB (gNB) development, massive MIMO, containerized applications, and performance characterization.

• 5G/6G test and validation – Supports India’s 5G core network development and early-stage 6G research.

• Security assurance – Enables SCAS compliance testing for enhanced network security.

• Performance benchmarking – Assists in evaluating reliability, scalability, and real-world network performance.

• Government-backed telecom modernization – Aids India’s 5G rollout and Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) initiatives.

“The collaboration with Spirent enables CEWiT to give a strong fillip to India’s 5G and 6G Research and Development efforts by strengthening the test and validation ecosystem, especially for the 5G core network,” said Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Honorary Director of CEWiT and Professor Emeritus at IIT Madras.
