VIAVI Solutions has expanded its OneAdvisor 800 portfolio with the launch of a new 800G transport module, designed to meet the growing demand for high-speed fiber and transport network testing. The new module delivers field technicians an integrated solution for certifying and troubleshooting networks up to 800G, addressing the rapid adoption of AI/ML and other data-intensive applications that are pushing metro/core and data center networks to higher capacities. The 800G module will be showcased at the upcoming Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Conference and Exposition in San Francisco, April 1-3, 2025.

The 800G transport module enhances the OneAdvisor 800 platform by offering built-in workflows, automated configuration, and broad support for coherent pluggable optics. It supports QSFP and OSFP form factors, which are becoming standard in 800G deployments. Field technicians can now execute a full suite of tests on active optical cables (AOC), direct attach copper (DAC), as well as emerging active electrical cables (AEC) and active copper cables (ACC) within a single handheld unit. The module can also integrate transport testing with OTDR functionality for fiber troubleshooting and DWDM optical spectrum analysis (OSA) in metro and DCI environments.

VIAVI says this release positions it as a leader in 800G testing across the full network lifecycle, complementing its lab-focused test platforms like ONE LabPro™ and MAP-300, which support component and system validation up to 1.6T. The OneAdvisor 800’s compact, battery-powered design and heat dissipation features make it well-suited for field use by contractors and technicians working on high-capacity infrastructure upgrades.

• VIAVI introduces an 800G transport module for its OneAdvisor 800 platform, expanding high-speed field testing capabilities.

• Supports testing of AOC, DAC, AEC, and ACC cables, as well as coherent pluggable optics.

• Compatible with both QSFP and OSFP form factors for 800G applications.

• Combines transport testing with OTDR and DWDM analysis in a single handheld unit.

• Extends VIAVI’s portfolio, which includes lab-based testing solutions up to 1.6T.

“As emerging applications such as IoT, AI and cloud computing place unprecedented strain on networks, technicians and engineers need fast and accurate certification of data center cablings for 800G,” said Kevin Oliver, Vice President and General Manager, Fiber and Access Solutions, VIAVI.

Here’s a comparison of VIAVI’s 800G field vs. lab testing solutions:
