DE-CIX Expands to Brazil with New IXs in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

DE-CIX, the world’s largest operator of Internet Exchanges (IXs), has officially launched DE-CIX Sao Paulo and DE-CIX Rio de Janeiro, expanding its presence in Latin America with a distributed and neutral IX model. Operated by DE-CIX Brazil, a wholly owned subsidiary of DE-CIX Group, the two IXs are now taking orders and are housed in multiple key data centers, including Elea Data Centers, Ascenty, and Equinix facilities in both cities.

For the first time in Brazil, the two IXs will be interconnected from day one, providing local and remote peering options, and linking directly to DE-CIX’s global IX ecosystem. This includes strategic connections to New York, Frankfurt, Madrid, Lisbon, and other hubs across the Atlantic, enabling Brazilian customers to reach thousands of networks across North America, Europe, and beyond. The service offers SLA-backed enterprise-grade interconnection solutions aimed at improving redundancy, resiliency, and network performance in Brazil’s growing digital economy.

DE-CIX’s expansion into Brazil builds on its existing portfolio of nearly 60 IX locations worldwide, connecting thousands of ISPs, cloud providers, carriers, and enterprises across more than 100 countries. The Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro IXs position Brazil as a key player in the south-to-north and south-to-south Atlantic data corridors, bolstering international traffic flow and providing new infrastructure options for enterprises and network operators.

• DE-CIX launches IXs in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, operated by DE-CIX Brazil.

• IXs located in major data centers including Elea, Ascenty, and Equinix facilities.

• The two IXs are interconnected from day one, supporting local and remote peering.

“With DE-CIX Sao Paulo and DE-CIX Rio de Janeiro open for business, customers can now benefit from a more resilient and globally integrated digital interconnection ecosystem in Brazil,” said Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX.
