Zayo Expands 400G Network into Mexico

Zayo has launched its first 400G Point of Presence (PoP) in Mexico, extending its high-capacity North American backbone into Monterrey to support the region’s fast-growing manufacturing and cloud sectors. The new Zayo-owned PoP delivers direct connectivity to U.S. and Canadian networks, providing the high-throughput, low-latency performance required by modern industrial operations, AI-driven automation, and data-intensive cloud applications.

Monterrey is emerging as a key node in the continental nearshoring corridor, attracting investment from automotive, electronics, and aerospace companies modernizing production with smart factory and industrial IoT systems. Zayo’s 400G footprint in the city enables enterprises to interconnect factories, data centers, and cloud providers with scalable bandwidth and minimal latency, improving performance for distributed workflows and edge computing.

The expansion builds on Zayo’s recent investment in cross-border infrastructure, including U.S.–Mexico fiber routes and additional planned PoPs in strategic Mexican markets. Zayo aims to deliver an integrated 400G+ fiber fabric spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico to meet the growing connectivity demands of AI infrastructure and digital manufacturing ecosystems across North America.

“Monterrey is a prime example of where global manufacturing and digital innovation are converging,” said Joel Daly, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy at Zayo. “With this latest expansion in Mexico, we are giving customers a stronger, faster network foundation to support modern workloads, automation, and cross-border operations in one of North America’s fastest-growing manufacturing hubs.”

🌐 Analysis:

Zayo’s move positions it as a key backbone provider for the emerging “NAFTA cloud” economy — a North American digital corridor fueled by nearshoring, automation, and cross-border AI workloads. The 400G deployment in Monterrey complements investments by hyperscalers and data center providers expanding in northern Mexico, including projects by AWS, Microsoft, and KIO Networks. Zayo’s continued fiber densification across the U.S.–Mexico border enhances its role as a critical infrastructure partner for industrial digital transformation and cross-continental data mobility.

Highlights:

• First Zayo-owned 400G PoP in Mexico, located in Monterrey

• Connects directly into Zayo’s North American 400G backbone

• Supports AI, smart manufacturing, industrial IoT, and cloud operations

• Targets Mexico’s expanding nearshoring and automation corridor

• Additional PoPs planned in other Mexican industrial regions

• Reinforces Zayo’s integrated U.S.–Canada–Mexico connectivity fabric
