Google is accelerating its U.S. infrastructure expansion with a $40 billion investment in Texas through 2027, advancing a multi-year plan to build large-scale cloud and AI data center campuses across the state. The program centers on new facilities in Armstrong County and Haskell County, reinforcing Texas as a priority region for hyperscale buildouts. Google first established operations in Texas more than 15 years ago and now positions the region as a core pillar of its AI infrastructure strategy.
The company pairs its construction program with significant new energy commitments, including more than 6,200 MW of generation brought onto the ERCOT grid via power purchase agreements. One new Haskell County data center will be co-developed alongside a dedicated solar and battery storage plant. Google is also launching a $30 million Energy Impact Fund to support efficiency and grid-resilience projects for local communities.
Google plans to scale the state’s energy-and-AI workforce in parallel. Through the electrical training ALLIANCE, more than 1,700 apprentices will be trained by 2030—more than doubling the projected pipeline of new electricians in Texas. Google says the long-term plan strengthens the U.S. technical base required to support next-generation AI infrastructure deployments.
