Belkin introduced new Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit adapters for creating an HD entertainment network through existing electrical wiring inside a home. Belkin’s Gigabit Powerline adapters, which leverage Gigle Semiconductor’s mediaxtream chip, claims top speeds of 1000 Mbps compared with the current fastest powerline technology running at 200 Mbps.
The Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit has a retail price of $150., including one single-port Adapter for a gaming console, HDTV, or a computer and another single-port Adapter to plug into a router. Adding a third (or more) Belkin Powerline Adapter enables Gigle’s xtendnet feature that provides increasing networking stability and performance by creating a transparent mesh network. The units are compatible with HomePlug AV products.
