Beceem Communications has chosen Red Bend’s vDirect Mobile device management client software for its family of WiMAX chipsets. Beceem and Red Bend are integrating vDirect Mobile into Beceem’s software stack to provide Beceem’s customers with the option to leverage Red Bend’s OMA-DM client. vDirect Mobile is the industry’s leading independent DM client that is interoperable with any DM server supporting standards from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), including the WiMAX Management Object used by the WiMAX Forum and adopted by leading WiMAX operators worldwide.

“Emerging wireless technologies such as WiMAX are keeping people connected, and Beceem chipsets are powering that connection,” said Babu Mandava, CEO and co-founder of Beceem. “By integrating Red Bend’s vDirect Mobile into our software stack, we are providing one of the most complete WiMAX chip solutions. With vDirect Mobile our partners can take advantage of a proven OMA-DM client to further accelerate their device development and ensure out-of-the-box network interoperability in all the major mobile WiMAX networks.”

vDirect Mobile is used to provision new subscribers, configure applications and network settings, manage software and retrieve device information over the air. It has been deployed across multiple platforms, operating systems and memory types on mobile phones, wireless devices and machine-to-machine (M2M) modules.
