UTStarcom announced its first IPTV win in Latin America. Brasil Telecom’s Videon IPTV service is using UTStarcom’s RollingStream end-to-end IPTV solution as its end-to-end technology platform. The solution is deployed for the carrier’s new Videon video-on-demand (VOD) IPTV service in Brasilia with plans to expand the service to additional cities in the country’s South and Midwest regions in the coming months. In addition to supporting the current subscriber base in Brasilia, the RollingStream system designed for Brasil Telecom maintains an additional capacity of 50,000 subscribers for the expansion. Financial terms were not disclosed.

UTStarcom said there are currently over 600,000 live subscribers on its RollingStream IPTV solution globally. It has a total deployed subscriber system capacity of over one million subscribers with its commercial IPTV deployments in China with China Netcom and China Telecom; Bharti Airtel and MTNL/Aksh in India and Softbank in Japan.
