At ECOC 2024, Source Photonics unveiled its new transceiver portfolio, which includes 1.6T and 800G optical modules and direct attach copper (DAC) cables based on single-lambda 200G PAM4 technology. These innovations support the next-generation 51.2T and 102.4T switch platforms critical for AI data centers. The product lineup includes DR8, 2xFR4, and SR8 optical modules, along with various DAC, ACC, and AEC copper cables in OSFP and QSFP-DD form factors. With the integration of 200G PAM4 EML lasers, Source Photonics is delivering scalable solutions for AI cluster data centers, enabling seamless upgrades from 400G to 1.6T transceivers, all while improving power efficiency by over 20%.

In addition to supporting long-reach applications of up to 10km, the new transceivers comply with IEEE standards, ensuring backward compatibility and smooth transitions across networking architectures. The company has already shipped over 7.5 million high-speed EML chips, marking a significant step in scaling AI infrastructure.

• Product range: 1.6T, 800G, and 400G optical modules, DAC/ACC copper cables

• Key technologies: 200G PAM4 EML lasers, 1.6T DR8 and 800G FR4/LR4 modules

• Applications: AI data centers, hyperscale networking, 51.2T per RU architecture

• Key demo: Live at ECOC 2024, Booth #C67

• Standards: IEEE Std 802.3ck-2022, IEEE P802.3dj D1.1

“The latest generation of 800G products reduces power consumption per bit by over 20%, and provides flexible, backward-compatible transceiver options for upgrading from 400G to 1.6T,” said Dr. Frank Chang, CTO, Source Photonics.
