Vodafone and Google have signed a ten-year agreement to expand their partnership, valued at over a billion dollars, to provide AI-driven services, cloud storage, and enhanced security to millions of Vodafone customers across Europe and Africa. The collaboration will also bring Google’s AI-powered devices, like Pixel phones, to more consumers via Vodafone’s 5G network. Additionally, Google will leverage Vodafone’s fixed and mobile networks to improve business productivity.

The deal aims to upgrade Vodafone TV with Google Cloud’s generative AI technology, offering better content search, personalized recommendations, and future ad integrations through Google Ad Manager. Vodafone also plans to introduce Google One AI Premium subscription plans to select markets by 2025. For businesses, Vodafone will develop a cloud-native security service based on Google Cloud’s Security Operations platform to boost cyber resilience.

This strategic expansion builds on an existing collaboration where Vodafone’s private data repository is hosted on Google Cloud. The companies will now accelerate innovation by deploying Google’s Vertex AI platform for faster product launches and improved services across Vodafone’s operating regions. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, emphasized, “Our expanded partnership with Vodafone will help bring our most advanced AI products and services to more people across Europe and Africa.”
