Edgecore Networks launched a new line of high-density Ethernet switches designed for carrier, enterprise, and data center applications. The ECS5550-30X and ECS5550-54X models offer 24 or 48 ports supporting 1/2.5/10GbE speeds with six 100GbE uplinks, delivering flexibility for diverse use cases. These switches cater to high-bandwidth access, aggregation, and core networks, supporting both traditional three-tier and folded-Clos architectures.

Optimized for ISPs, the ECS5550 series includes advanced features such as ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS), achieving sub-50ms convergence for high network resilience. It supports seamless IPv6 management, robust security measures, and multicast control to meet growing demands for scalable and future-ready networks. Simplified management interfaces, including CLI, SNMP, and web options, ensure easy configuration and monitoring. The series also integrates private MIBs, allowing compatibility with customer-specific management systems.

The ECS5550 series is designed for cost-effective deployment in high-performance environments, from residential broadband to enterprise aggregation. “Edgecore Networks is committed to enabling reliable and scalable networks with innovative solutions like the ECS5550 series,” the company stated. The switches are now available through Edgecore Networks and authorized distributors.

Key Points:

• Models: ECS5550-30X (24 ports) and ECS5550-54X (48 ports)

• Port Speeds: 1/2.5/10GbE with six 100GbE uplinks

• Convergence: ITU-T G.8032 ERPS with <50ms convergence

• Features: Enhanced IPv6 management, security, and multicast capabilities

• Management: CLI, SNMP, web-based, and private MIB for EMS integration

• Applications: Carrier, enterprise, data center, and ISP networks
