Aryaka Strengthens Position in Networking Market Amid Industry Volatility

As the Silicon Valley networking sector faces a turbulent period with major players like Cisco, Juniper Networks, and VMware undergoing significant changes in 2024, Aryaka is carving out a unique position with its integrated approach to network and security solutions. Based in Santa Clara, California, Aryaka is pioneering Unified SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) as a Service, an offering that converges wide area networking, security, observability, and multi-cloud application performance into a single platform. This approach is designed to meet the growing demands of a cloud-first world, where secure, agile networking solutions are increasingly critical.

Founded in 2009, Aryaka has seen significant growth, particularly in its fiscal year 2024, where new bookings increased by 34% year-over-year, and security product bookings surged by over 80%. This growth has been driven by the launch of Unified SASE as a Service and the introduction of Aryaka AI>Perform, a GenAI network acceleration solution. These innovations are part of Aryaka’s broader AI>Initiative, which aims to integrate AI and GenAI capabilities into global business networks.

Shailesh Shukla, who had previously joined Aryaka as an independent board member and held the role of Executive Chairman since September 2023, was appointed as the CEO and Chairman of Aryaka earlier this year. Prior to this, as the Vice President and General Manager at Google Cloud, he contributed significantly to the development of a multi-billion-dollar Networking and Security business. Throughout his career, his leadership has spurred growth, be it in budding startups like Instart Logic and Redback Networks, or in established corporations such as Google and Cisco Systems. Notable positions he held include Chief Operating Officer at Instart and VP/GM of several routing and software enterprises at Cisco.

Aryaka’s technical differentiators, such as its OnePASS architecture and Zero Trust WAN backbone, set it apart from competitors. The company’s Points of Presence (PoPs) are not just routing and switching transport hubs; they also integrate compute and storage for advanced services, offering a more robust and secure solution than the virtual PoPs provided by other SASE vendors. This infrastructure has enabled Aryaka to secure marquee customer wins, including contracts with Cathay Pacific Airways, American Woodmark Corporation, and SEG Automotive, contributing over $30 million in contract value.

Window of Opportunity Opens Wider

In a market where Cisco is undergoing major restructuring with additional layoffs, Juniper Networks is being acquired by HPE, and VMware is integrating into Broadcom, Aryaka’s agility and innovation provide a compelling alternative for enterprises seeking secure and high-performance networking solutions. The company’s recent milestones, including the expansion of its global PoP network with new locations in Stockholm, Madrid, Denver, and Atlanta, reflect its commitment to serving a global customer base.

Aryaka’s channel-first strategy is also a key driver for its business. The Aryaka Accelerate Global Partner Program played a crucial role in the company’s growth, with partners driving a 26% increase in sales year-over-year and contributing to two-thirds of new customer wins, according to the company. This partner-led approach is expected to continue fueling Aryaka’s expansion in the coming fiscal year.

Looking ahead, Aryaka plans to make significant investments in product development, go-to-market strategies, and customer success to further enhance its offerings and maintain its momentum. With the recent appointment of key executives, including Justin Lim as Vice President of Customer Success and Aditya Sood as Vice President of Security Engineering and AI Strategy, Aryaka is well-positioned to capture a growing share of the SASE market as the market opportunity opens wider.

Key Points:

• Mission and Product Set: Aryaka converges networking, security, observability, and multi-cloud performance into a single Unified SASE platform delivered as a service.

• Technical Differentiators: Aryaka’s OnePASS architecture, Zero Trust WAN backbone, and integrated PoPs provide superior performance and security compared to competitors.

• Recent Milestones: Aryaka reported a 34% increase in new bookings and an 80%+ rise in security product bookings in fiscal year 2024.

• Leadership: New CEO Shailesh Shukla, formerly of Google Cloud and Cisco, is driving Aryaka’s strategic direction and growth.

• Market Context: Aryaka is navigating a volatile networking sector, with major players like Cisco restructuring and Juniper Networks being acquired by HPE.

• Global Expansion: Aryaka expanded its global footprint with new Points of Presence in Stockholm, Madrid, Denver, and Atlanta.

• Channel Strategy: Partner-led growth through the Aryaka Accelerate Global Partner Program contributed to two-thirds of new customer wins.
