A10 Networks (NYSE: ATEN) has acquired ThreatX Protect, a provider of Web Application and API Protection (WAAP), to bolster its cybersecurity offerings. The acquisition enhances A10’s Defend security suite with real-time behavioral analytics, API protection, bot management, and AI-driven threat mitigation. With attacks on web applications and APIs rising, the move aligns with A10’s focus on securing hybrid and AI-driven workloads across cloud, on-premises, and colocation environments. The deal, now closed, is expected to be modestly accretive to A10’s earnings per share in 2025.
ThreatX Protect offers a dynamic, risk-based security approach, differentiating itself from traditional Web Application Firewalls (WAFs). Its WAAP solution continuously adapts to evolving threats, making it ideal for enterprises facing AI-powered attacks and sophisticated API abuse. “Expanding the A10 Defend security portfolio with ThreatX Protect gives our customers an additional tool to strengthen their security posture,” said Dhrupad Trivedi, President and CEO of A10 Networks. Former ThreatX CEO Gene Fay added, “A10 has been a fantastic partner, and we are confident this transition benefits both our customers and employees.”
The acquisition reflects A10’s broader push into AI security and enterprise protection. It strengthens application security, threat intelligence, and hybrid DDoS defenses, ensuring mission-critical applications are better protected. While financial details were not disclosed, A10 emphasized that the deal aligns with its long-term growth strategy and does not materially impact its 2025 financial outlook.
• WAAP Integration: ThreatX Protect adds real-time API security, bot mitigation, and risk-based threat detection to A10’s Defend portfolio.
• AI & API Security: Helps enterprises protect against AI-driven threats and API-specific attacks.
• Hybrid Deployment: Supports multi-cloud, private cloud, and on-prem security strategies.
• Strategic Growth: Expands A10’s footprint in the cybersecurity market while strengthening AI security capabilities.
• Financial Impact: Modestly accretive to earnings in 2025, but not a material shift in A10’s financial outlook.
