Adtran and 6WIND Partner to Deliver Virtualized BNG

Adtran has partnered with 6WIND to integrate virtual broadband network gateway (vBNG) and virtual carrier-grade NAT (vCGNAT) solutions into its Mosaic software suite, offering service providers a scalable, software-based alternative to traditional BNG hardware. The joint solution enables operators to manage subscriber authentication, routing, and traffic handling with cloud-native efficiency, eliminating reliance on proprietary equipment. Designed to run on commercial off-the-shelf servers, the vBNG and vCGNAT solution delivers multigigabit performance with low latency, while supporting essential broadband functions such as RADIUS authentication and dynamic routing.

By combining 6WIND’s high-performance network functions with Adtran’s Mosaic software and fiber access platforms, the solution allows providers to scale operations from small networks to deployments supporting millions of subscribers. It also offers automation for provisioning and subscriber monitoring, improving operational efficiency and lowering capital and operational expenses. The architecture allows operators to dynamically scale services based on demand, instead of committing to fixed-capacity hardware appliances.

This collaboration further strengthens Adtran’s end-to-end broadband strategy, providing ISPs with an agile solution that simplifies deployment and management. The partnership builds on an existing relationship that has already seen over 12,000 6WIND virtual routers deployed under the Adtran Ensemble vRouter brand. With integrated support, deployment assistance, and professional services, the combined solution positions Adtran and 6WIND to meet growing broadband demands with a flexible, virtualized platform.

• Adtran integrates 6WIND vBNG and vCGNAT into Mosaic software suite for scalable broadband delivery

• Virtualized solution runs on commercial servers, replacing expensive, fixed-capacity hardware

• Supports RADIUS, CGNAT, dynamic routing, and subscriber monitoring with carrier-grade performance

• Enables service automation and multigigabit speeds with low latency and high throughput

• Solution scales from thousands to millions of users, reducing costs for ISPs of all sizes

• Builds on Adtran and 6WIND’s deployment history of 12,000+ Ensemble vRouters

“By combining 6WIND’s high-performance vBNG and vCGNAT with our software applications and fiber access platforms, we’re giving operators an affordable and highly flexible alternative to traditional BNGs,” said Robert Conger, GM of software platforms and strategy at Adtran.
