Adtran Powers Open-Access Fiber in Morrow, Georgia

eCommunity Fiber has deployed Adtran’s fiber access solution to support the City of Morrow’s smart city ambitions in Georgia, enabling scalable broadband infrastructure that delivers connectivity for public safety systems, municipal operations, and local businesses. The carrier-neutral, open-access network uses GPON technology to provide immediate high-speed service while laying the groundwork for XGS-PON upgrades as bandwidth demands increase.

The deployment enhances digital services at key civic sites including libraries and community centers, enabling public Wi-Fi, advanced surveillance, and Ethernet-based business connectivity. The infrastructure also supports municipal WAN services, offering a unified network to power government applications and next-gen public services across Morrow. The open-access model allows multiple service providers to operate on the network, increasing competition and improving broadband affordability and quality for residents.

Adtran’s platform provides the scalability needed for long-term growth and supports future smart city applications in education, public health, and economic development. The Morrow project is notable for being privately funded, distinguishing it from many public broadband initiatives and demonstrating a replicable model for other municipalities.
