Adtran has launched its new FSP 3000 IP OLS (Optical Line System), designed to simplify deployments and streamline optical networking amid surging bandwidth demands driven by AI workloads and IP-based applications. The compact, automated platform combines amplification, filtering, and real-time fiber and optical channel monitoring into a single, easy-to-manage system that significantly reduces complexity. Supporting coherent ZR optics, the FSP 3000 IP OLS enables seamless scalability from 400Gbps up to 800Gbps and even 1.6Tbps per wavelength, housed within a compact 1RU chassis for deployment efficiency in space-constrained environments.
The FSP 3000 IP OLS addresses growing industry trends toward short point-to-point links (up to 100km) utilizing coherent ZR/ZR+ optics within IP-over-DWDM (IPoDWDM) architectures. This approach simplifies network planning and management, enabling IP teams without specialized optical knowledge to efficiently deploy and operate optical infrastructure. Adtran’s solution integrates an 8-channel mux/demux filter, pre- and booster amplifiers, and fully automated power management into a single compact module, compatible with Adtran and third-party coherent optics. Various chassis configurations are available, accommodating different airflow and power requirements.
Automation and real-time visibility are central features of the FSP 3000 IP OLS, providing zero-touch provisioning, automated span equalization, and comprehensive monitoring capabilities. Integrated OTDR technology enables rapid fault detection and resolution, minimizing network downtime and reducing operational costs. Additionally, automated optical channel monitoring and adaptive power management continuously maintain optimal performance with minimal intervention. The solution is also available through Adtran’s optical-infrastructure-as-a-service model, offering a streamlined, cost-effective deployment method.
