Airtel’s Xtelify Launches Sovereign Cloud and AI Software for Global Telcos

Airtel’s digital services arm Xtelify has launched two major offerings aimed at accelerating digital transformation for enterprises and telecom operators worldwide. The first is “Airtel Cloud,” a sovereign, telco-grade cloud platform built entirely in India, capable of processing up to 1.4 trillion transactions per minute for Airtel’s own operations and now extended to Indian businesses. Hosted on sustainable data centers and managed by 300 certified cloud experts, the platform delivers IaaS, PaaS, and advanced connectivity while promising cost savings of up to 40%, secure migration, and no vendor lock-in. All data and control remain within India to meet stringent sovereignty requirements.

The second launch is an AI-powered telecom software suite designed to simplify operations, improve customer experience, reduce churn, and boost ARPU for global carriers. The suite includes a converged data engine for AI-driven insights, a workforce platform for real-time task management, and a customer experience platform covering the entire service lifecycle. Xtelify announced strategic partnerships with Singtel, Globe Telecom, and Airtel Africa to deploy elements of the platform. Singtel will roll out “Xtelify Work” for AI-enabled field operations in Singapore, Globe Telecom will integrate “Xtelify Serve” for omnichannel service assurance in the Philippines, and Airtel Africa will use the Data Engine, Work, and IQ modules to empower its 150,000 field staff across 14 countries while enhancing fraud protection and customer engagement.

Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and MD of Bharti Airtel, said, “It is a very pivotal moment in our history as we take our world class, home grown platforms of Airtel Cloud and software solutions to businesses in India and telcos all over the world. We are privileged to have signed on partnerships with three top tier companies already – Singtel, Globe Telecom and Airtel Africa.”

• Airtel Cloud processes up to 1.4 trillion transactions per minute, offers IaaS/PaaS, and is hosted entirely in India with full data sovereignty.

• AI-powered telecom software suite addresses data analytics, workforce efficiency, and end-to-end customer experience management.

• Singtel deploying AI-enabled workforce tools; Globe Telecom adopting AI-powered case management; Airtel Africa rolling out multi-module deployment for field and customer engagement.

• Platform hosted on sustainable data centers with Gen-AI based provisioning and managed by 300 certified cloud specialists.

• Targeted to deliver up to 40% reduction in cloud costs for Indian enterprises.

🌐 Why it Matters

This move positions Airtel as both a hyperscale cloud provider for Indian enterprises and a global telecom software player, competing with international vendors while leveraging its own operational expertise. The emphasis on sovereign cloud aligns with India’s tightening data residency and security regulations, while the AI-powered software suite signals a growing trend of telcos exporting their in-house digital capabilities as commercial products.

Bharti Airtel and Singtel already have a long-standing corporate relationship — Singtel is one of Airtel’s largest strategic investors. Singtel currently owns roughly 29–30% of Bharti Telecom Limited, which is the holding company that controls the majority stake in Bharti Airtel. Over the years, Singtel has worked closely with Airtel on network infrastructure, roaming, and enterprise services, and both companies have collaborated in regional telecom alliances like the Bridge Alliance.

This new Xtelify deal extends that relationship into the software and cloud domain, with Singtel becoming one of the first global operators to deploy Xtelify’s AI-powered “Work” platform to enhance field operations in Singapore. It’s essentially moving from equity and network-level cooperation into co-deployment of next-gen operational technology.

Bharti Airtel’s mobile subscriber base in India currently stands at approximately 436 million as of June 30, 2025  . This figure specifically refers to wireless (mobile) users.

To give you additional context:

  • By the end of May 2025, TRAI data reported Airtel’s total mobile base at about 390 million subscribers, representing a market share of around 33.6%  .
  • For comparison, as of September 2024, Airtel’s global total subscriptions across all countries (not just India) was listed as approximately 563 million  .
