Arelion Expands in Mexico with Monterrey-to-Querétaro Route

Arelion has deployed a new Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) route from Monterrey to Querétaro, Mexico, to meet the growing demand for high-capacity optical transmission services. This underground fiber route offers wholesale and enterprise customers access to Arelion’s robust ecosystem of cloud, content, and security applications, while supporting Mexico’s booming cloud and data center industry. Querétaro, already emerging as Mexico’s leading data center hub, will benefit from the terabit-scale connectivity provided by Arelion’s infrastructure, which helps fuel the region’s growing cloud, AI/ML, and manufacturing sectors.

This expansion comes after Arelion’s recent network build-out from the U.S. to Monterrey, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to improve connectivity in Mexico. The new route enhances Arelion’s local content ecosystem, reduces the risk of service outages, and provides direct connections to major U.S. markets like Northern Virginia, Silicon Valley, Dallas, and Atlanta. It also leverages advanced C+L band open optical line systems and next-gen 400G/800G optical pluggables to deliver terabit-scale services.

Arelion’s global network serves over 125 countries and is ranked as the #1 IP backbone worldwide. In Mexico, Arelion’s nine terabit-scale Points-of-Presence (PoPs) support key cloud providers and enterprises, providing reliable connectivity services such as scalable 400G Wavelengths, IP Transit, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), and DDoS Mitigation.

• Launch: New route to go live in late Q3 2024
