Arelion has added a new Point-of-Presence (PoP) at OpenColo’s data center in Santa Clara, California, expanding its North American “AI superhighway” network and strengthening connectivity options for enterprises and wholesale operators. The PoP provides OpenColo customers with direct access to Arelion’s global IP backbone, high-capacity cross-connects, and a full suite of connectivity services including 400G Wavelengths, Cloud Connect, IP Transit, and DDoS Mitigation. The new hub supports the region’s growing demand for low-latency AI and cloud infrastructure services as Silicon Valley continues to lead the development of data-intensive applications.
OpenColo operates a 71,000-square-foot carrier-neutral facility with 2N power redundancy and has built a reputation for flexible, high-performance infrastructure serving enterprise and service provider customers. Santa Clara hosts the largest concentration of data centers in California—55 currently operational and three under development—driven largely by AI-related workloads. With the enterprise AI market expected to reach $229.3 billion by 2030, the Arelion deployment strengthens local connectivity options for training and inference workloads that demand scalable, high-throughput links.
Art Kazmierczak, Director of Strategic Sales and Network Development at Arelion, said the expansion “enhances the diversity of our North American network, enabling us to provide OpenColo’s customers with high-capacity connectivity underpinned by industry-leading customer service.” OpenColo CTO and Co-founder Scott Brookshire added that Arelion’s Tier-1 services “reflect our own mission in providing cost-effective, diverse options to our customers.”

🌐 Analysis: Arelion’s expansion into OpenColo strengthens its presence in Silicon Valley’s AI data center corridor, complementing its earlier network builds across major U.S. tech hubs. The move aligns with broader industry trends as carriers extend 400G and wavelength-based services to support hyperscaler and enterprise AI deployments. Similar expansions by providers such as Zayo, Lumen, and Cogent underscore the race to interconnect emerging AI compute clusters across North America.
