AST SpaceMobile has secured its first contract with the Space Development Agency (SDA) as part of the Hybrid Acquisition for Low-Earth Orbit (HALO) program. The agreement positions AST SpaceMobile to compete for prototype demonstration projects aimed at advancing space-based technologies for government use. The HALO initiative, focused on accelerating tech development for the Department of Defense (DoD), seeks to drive innovation through competitive prototypes that enhance security and communication in space.
AST SpaceMobile will leverage its phased-array technology, derived from over 3,450 patents and patent-pending claims, to serve both communications and non-communications applications. This technology is key to demonstrating the scalability and dual-use potential of their space-based cellular broadband network for secure government operations. With this contract, AST SpaceMobile strengthens its position in national security space initiatives.
