NBN Co reported A$2.87 billion in total revenue for the first half of FY25, marking a 4% increase over the same period last year. Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) reached $2.12 billion, reflecting a 7% rise. The company remains on track to achieve its FY25 financial targets, as outlined in its 2025 Statement of Corporate Intent. Operating expenses declined by 2% to $821 million due to cost efficiency measures.

The company recorded growth in both residential and business segments. Residential Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) increased by $2 to $49, driven by customer demand for higher-speed plans and adjustments in wholesale pricing under the Special Access Undertaking (SAU) Variation. Business revenue rose by 5% to $599 million. Capital expenditure for the half-year totaled $1.9 billion, a 2% increase year-over-year, reflecting investments in fibre expansion and fixed wireless upgrades.

Network improvements continued at pace. As of December 2024, approximately 8.62 million premises were connected to the nbn network, with 28% subscribing to plans with speeds of 100 Mbps or higher. More than 594,000 premises have upgraded to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) through the Fibre Connect Program. NBN Co also completed its Fixed Wireless upgrade program, enhancing speeds for 800,000 homes and businesses. In January 2025, the company announced a joint $3.8 billion investment with the Australian Government to upgrade the remaining Fibre to the Node (FTTN) premises by 2030.

Key Points:

• Revenue for H1 FY25: $2.87 billion (+4% YoY).

• EBITDA: $2.12 billion (+7% YoY).

• Operating expenses: $821 million (-2% YoY).

• Residential ARPU: $49 (+$2 YoY).

• Business revenue: $599 million (+5% YoY).

• 8.62 million premises connected, 28% on 100 Mbps+ plans.

• 594,000 premises upgraded to FTTP; 3.5M FTTN and 1.5M FTTC premises eligible by December 2025.

• Fixed Wireless upgrades completed for 800,000 homes and businesses.

• $3.8 billion investment to upgrade remaining FTTN premises by 2030.

• Ongoing evaluation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite solutions.

“Australians are fast adopters of technology, and as Australia’s digital backbone, the nbn network is critical infrastructure supporting the needs of more than 20 million Australians daily,” said Ellie Sweeney, CEO of NBN Co. “With our continued fibre and wireless network upgrades, we are positioning Australia for a more connected digital future.”
