Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched its new Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region, providing Malaysian businesses, government entities, and organizations with enhanced capabilities to run applications and securely store data with lower latency. The new region is part of AWS’s long-term commitment to the Asia Pacific region, with plans to invest over $6.2 billion (approximately MYR 29.2 billion) in Malaysia through 2038. This investment is expected to significantly boost Malaysia’s digital economy, support over 3,500 full-time jobs annually, and add approximately $12.1 billion (MYR 57.3 billion) to the country’s GDP.

The AWS Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region consists of three Availability Zones, strategically located to ensure business continuity with low-latency connections. With this launch, AWS now operates 108 Availability Zones across 34 geographic regions globally, including several in Asia Pacific. AWS has also announced plans to launch 18 more Availability Zones and six additional regions, including locations in Mexico, New Zealand, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
