AWS Revenue Jumps 19% in Q4 as AI & Cloud Demand Soars

Amazon.com reported that AWS continued its strong momentum in Q4 2024 with a 19% year-over-year revenue increase and expanding its AI and cloud offerings. Amazon introduced new AI infrastructure and cloud services, including its Trainium2 AI chip and Amazon Nova foundation models, further solidifying AWS’s leadership in the cloud computing and AI markets.

• Revenue: $28.8 billion, up 19% YoY

• Operating income: $10.6 billion, up from $7.2 billion YoY

• Revenue: $107.6 billion, up 19% YoY

• Operating income: $39.8 billion, up from $24.6 billion YoY

Key AWS Announcements & AI Expansion in Q4

• Amazon Nova Foundation Models: AWS’s new family of AI models offers lower latency and cost than competitors, with early adoption by Deloitte, SAP, Robinhood, and others.

• Trainium2 AI Chips: Launched EC2 Trn2 instances, providing a 30-40% cost-performance improvement over GPU-based instances.

• Project Rainier: Collaboration with Anthropic to build the world’s largest AI compute cluster using AWS Trainium2 chips.

• Expanded AWS Regions: New data centers in Thailand and Mexico.

• S3 Enhancements: Introduction of S3 Tables and S3 Metadata for improved data discovery and analytics.
