Broadcom Unveils Quantum-Resistant Network Encryption

Broadcom has introduced the Emulex Secure Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), the first quantum-resistant network encryption solution designed to secure data in motion within data centers. The adapters encrypt all data as it moves between servers and storage, addressing the rising cost of ransomware attacks, which averaged $5.37 million per incident in 2024. By integrating post-quantum cryptographic algorithms and zero trust architecture, the Emulex Secure HBAs comply with new government mandates, including the U.S. Commercial National Security Algorithm (CNSA) 2.0, the EU’s Network and Information Security (NIS) 2 directive, and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).

Unlike application-based encryption, which disrupts storage services like deduplication and compression, network encryption preserves these functions while enabling real-time ransomware detection. Broadcom’s new solution operates without performance penalties, utilizing cryptographic hardware acceleration. The Emulex Secure HBAs support existing Fibre Channel infrastructures and provide simple, session-based key management. The adapters are now available in 32G and 64G configurations with up to four ports.

• Availability: 32G and 64G models in 1, 2, and 4-port configurations, shipping now

“Customers are seeking ways to protect themselves against crippling and expensive ransomware attacks as well as complying with new government regulations mandating all data be encrypted,” said Jeff Hoogenboom, vice president and general manager, Emulex Connectivity Division, Broadcom. “The Emulex Secure Host Bus Adapter meets these needs by providing an elegantly simple solution that once installed, encrypts all data across all applications.”
