Nokia has been selected by Cellcard to upgrade its residential fiber broadband network in Cambodia, transitioning from GPON to XGS-PON technology. The modernization effort, powered by Nokia’s Lightspan Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) and Altiplano Access Controller, will enable Cellcard to deliver multi-gigabit internet speeds of up to 10Gbps. The upgrade supports Cambodia’s growing demand for high-speed broadband, improving network reliability and efficiency while preparing for future services like 25G PON.

The deployment will extend across Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and other major cities, enhancing Cellcard’s ability to offer high-speed, low-latency applications such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Nokia’s Altiplano Access Controller, a cloud-native platform with advanced network automation and SDN control, will allow Cellcard to optimize broadband access services. With Nokia’s Lightspan access nodes, Cellcard can efficiently scale its network while reducing operational costs and power consumption.

Key deployment components:

• Nokia Lightspan OLTs – Upgrades Cellcard’s fiber network to XGS-PON, supporting up to 10Gbps speeds.

• Altiplano Access Controller – Enables network automation, SDN control, and enhanced service visibility.
