Celona Targets Industrial AI with Cloud-Managed Private 5G Platform

Celona has introduced AerFlex, a cloud-controlled, AP-only private 5G platform designed to simplify enterprise deployments for AI-powered operations. By removing the need for on-site servers and complex integrations, AerFlex allows organizations to roll out secure, high-performance networks rapidly—often within hours. The architecture places network control in the cloud while enabling secure local data breakout, targeting industrial environments such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, refineries, and mining operations where Wi-Fi often falls short.

Cargill is piloting AerFlex to connect 20 satellite offices with warehouse operations, aiming to improve manufacturing processes, automate forklifts, and enhance supply chain efficiency. The AP-only model allows deployment in space-constrained or remote locations without dedicated IT staff. Built on CelonaOS, the system unifies radio, core, and AI-powered management, offering centralized orchestration, resiliency, and scalability without the complexity of legacy telco infrastructure or fragmented small cell systems.

Founded in Silicon Valley, Celona has raised over $135 million from Lightspeed, Norwest, NTT Ventures, Cervin, DigitalBridge, and Qualcomm Ventures. The company pioneered the 5G LAN concept, serving enterprises across multiple industries. AerFlex marks its latest step in making private 5G more accessible for organizations seeking secure, low-latency connectivity to power industrial AI initiatives.

  • AerFlex uses an AP-only architecture, eliminating the need for local servers.
  • Cloud-based orchestration enables fast rollout and centralized management.
  • Supports AI-driven automation, real-time decision-making, and industrial IoT.
  • Secure local data breakout ensures performance and compliance.
  • Cargill pilot connects remote warehouses without on-site IT.

“By combining innovation with radical simplicity, we’re removing the traditional barriers to private 5G adoption—enabling more organizations to harness its performance, reliability, and security at a time when AI is transforming every industry,” said Rajeev Shah, CEO and co-founder of Celona.

🌐 Why it Matters: Private 5G adoption has often been slowed by deployment complexity and high operational overhead. Celona’s AP-only, cloud-controlled model could accelerate uptake across industries where industrial AI and automation are critical, potentially redefining how enterprises implement next-generation wireless networks.
