At the OCP Global Summit 2025, Helen Xenos, Senior Director of Portfolio Marketing at Ciena, outlined how the company is addressing the connectivity demands of hyperscalers and neoscalers with a comprehensive approach spanning coherent optics, photonic systems, and active copper interconnects.
Xenos highlighted the launch of the industry’s first single-carrier 1.6 terabit per second coherent optical solution, a major milestone in enabling next-generation AI and cloud infrastructure. She also discussed ultra-low-power transmission technologies designed for metro data center interconnect (DCI) and the emergence of photonic line systems that can now be deployed directly within data center racks.
In addition, Xenos announced Ciena’s acquisition of Nubis Communications, expanding the company’s portfolio into active copper connectivity and co-packaged optics—key enablers for both scale-up and scale-out data center architectures.
